BIOGRAPHY

Bill Henderson

On April 18, 2020 I tripped and fell on the stairs in my home.  I thought I was at the top but because I was toting some things I couldn't see the steps.  I had one more step.  I caught my toe on the top step and fell face first into a door.  I was immediately paralyzed from the neck down.  I was transported by ambulance to the level 1 trauma center in Memphis.  I had surgery to repair my fractured neck and stabilize my spinal column by adding titanium rods and screws.

After a week I was transferred to Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Georgia for two months of intense rehabilitation.  They only have spinal and brain injuries at Shepherd Center.  The doctors, nurses and technicians were the best I've seen at any hospital.  The physical, occupational and recreation therapists are amazing.  They literally gave me my life back.  I was able to walk out of that facility.  It wasn't very graceful but I could walk.

I had two months of outpatient therapy in Bartlett, Tennessee which is close to home.  Again I had wonderful therapists.  My hands still have problems but I can do most things on my own.  I can even drive again!

I owe all praise to God! Without Him I couldn't have endured everything I went through.  I look forward now to sharing my story of faith, mercy, grace, hope and healing.

Hope to see you soon,

Bill
